My handmade weaving looms are made by me in Guelph Ontario with locally sourced wood and finished in local beeswax. Made to be easy for a new weaver to use, they are not only functional and affordable, but the most beautiful looms we’ve seen on the market. They can be hung on the wall mid-project and still look great (perfect for those short on space). We also make small, pocket sized looms that can be worked up anywhere. We sell at One of a Kind Toronto, the Textile Museum of Canada, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Woodstock Fleece and Fibre Festival, Kawartha Yarn and Fibre Festival, among many others. Sandi is a natural fibre artist who works extensively with hand gathered materials that grow in and around the Kawartha Lakes, near her Notably Natural Studio on the shore of Buckhorn Lake, Ontario.
Known primarily for her traditional and non-traditional basketry, Sandi also makes large to extra-large wall weavings, willow figures, twig and tile tables, garden benches and wire sculptures.

Born in Great Britain, Chris Barker has enjoyed working with fibre from an early age, whether embroidery, cross stitch, macrame, weaving, sewing, or knitting. She has also experimented with making batik fabric for sewing projects and hand dying wool for knitting.
Chris has been making fabric art since 2004, starting with quilted landscape wall hangings.
Mostly self-taught she enjoys experimenting with different fabrics, yarns and techniques to make an original art piece. Nature and landscape scenes lend themselves well to collage, but she has also done houses, gardens and figures.
Most of her work is framed fabric collages behind glass. In some pieces she uses special wooden frames without glass to accentuate the texture and beading.
She uses mostly cotton batiks but has used silks, yarns, lace and netting to great effect. Besides fabric collages, she has done numerous children’s play quilts, kits, and cards. She sells her work each year at the Fibre Arts Festival (March) in Peterborough and at the Canoe Museum.

Indigo Dragonfly
Curiosity and exploration are the name of the game for knitwear designer and indie hand dyer, Kim McBrien Evans. A lifelong love of colour, texture, and pattern prompted Kim to transition from working artist to textile maven. Her knitwear designs are known for their ability to turn an abstract idea into a textile reality while simultaneously fitting and flattering every body.
Her yarn company, Indigodragonfly, is renowned for its vibrant colours, offbeat names, and ever expanding plan for world domination. She lives and works in the woods of Central Ontario.
Kawartha Rug Hookers
The Ontario Hooking Craft Guild was established in 1966 to promote the art and craft of rug hooking across the communities of Ontario. We currently have a membership of over 1000 fibre artists supported by 80 certified teachers. The OHCG operates a yearly school for its members, offers workshops for Branches and publishes a quarterly newsletter, in glossy magazine format (36-40 pages). Madderhouse Textile Studios
Owner/Operator, Leslie Menagh is a lifelong craftsperson and wrangler of cloth, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from NSCAD University. She is a workshop facilitator and community-builder with a deep enthusiasm for skill-sharing and desire to champion other artists. Madderhouse has pivoted during the Covid-19 pandemic into garment design and production, but it is also workshop and professional development space for textile and fibre arts enthusiasts of all stripes. In addition to offering its very own line of screen printed and locally constructed garments, it hosts learning opportunities in textile printing, natural dying, sewing construction, and other textile-based practices with knowledgeable and inspiring artist-instructors from throughout the region. We also offer artist residencies, open studio opportunities, and technical support to practicing textile artists and craftspeople at all skill levels.
Rovings & Wraps
At Rovings & Wraps we have blends for spinning and felting using luxury and exoctic fibres. Merino, alpaca, angora, tussah and cultivated silk and other fibres all are blended to make colourful and interesting batts that are fun to spin or felt. There are hand dyed rovings as well, using Merino , Blue Faced Leister, Polworth and other fine wools. Finished items from yarn spun from all our fibres include cowls, scarves, and shawls. Hand spun yarns are also available. A great place to shop for you fibre needs!

Santosha Fibreworks and Farm is small-scale, mixed agriculture farm that emphasizes diversity in products. We focus on Shetland sheep and their wool for spinning, bees, honey and beeswax products, and vegetable/produce gardens.
Shepherd’s Hill Farm
Shepherd’s Hill Farm consists of a flock of mostly long wool sheep raised in an ethical and sustainable manner. Our goal is to produce fleeces that are clean, consistent and easy to spin. Our efforts have been recognized locally and at the Royal Winter Fair.
I enjoy dyeing our fibre and painting yarn as well as using my fibre in rug hooked items.

My design/crafting venture began in my artisan’s workshop in Campbellville, Ontario in 2003, now is a family business my husband who retired last year and 2 part time ladies help me with all the process. I pride myself in working with quality, sustainable, vintage and organic eco-friendly products to recycle and produce my personally designed textiles mixing natural fabrics with contemporary elements.
I love working with different textures to make my creations, and my goal is to create organic and vintage products that are useful in everyday life

Laura Mayo Artist Statement
Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Laura has always been surrounded by nature and takes inspiration from it to produce her art.
With over twenty years of experience as a self taught artist, Laura has mastered the art of Sun Dyeing, which involves taking the leaves, flowers and seeds from plants and using them to create permanent images on silk scarves.
Working extensively with other fabric dyes, Laura has also created a line of Ice and Spray Dyed scarves in a fusion of colours to add to her line.
Hand made, perfectly matched scarf jewelry is also available to be purchased along with the scarves.
The Night Weaver
My name is Valerie Carpentier known as the Night Weaver. I have worked in various mediums but for the last 10 years I have been creating fabric art landscapes.
I enjoy selecting fabrics and then texturizing the composition with thread “painting” to give contrast and depth to my art work.

Over the last 15 years she has been actively pursuing her interest in Wet Felting. She has travelled to many countries and taken courses from Master Felters.

Wool4Ewe
Wool 4 Ewe had a small flock of ewes, in Ontario. Most of our ewes were of the Dorset breed. Our lambs were generally born in May as singles or twins. Triplets occurred, but not as often.
Our ewes spent most of their time outdoors. This way they could exercise and spend as much time as they wanted in the fresh air and sunshine. They had access to a barn, of course, and came in whenever they liked. They were sheared in the spring and their soft, warm fleeces are used to make our products.
From here we graduated to our Wool 4 Ewe Mill. We can now process various fibers from fleeces to rovings, batts or rug yarn. We also sell batts and roving and rug yarn along with all the items seen on the website. Come see how fiber is processed!

Our 10th annual Fibre Arts Festival & Sale will take place at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, (located by Fleming College) 775 Brealey Drive, Peterborough, Ontario, on Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The entry fee is $5.00, children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

My stash of vintage sweaters, linens, blankets, and yarns inspires me because of its huge variety of colours, textures, origins, and imagined histories: an antique hand-embroidered pillowcase can become a Christmas angel, an out-of-style cashmere sweater can become a cosy winter hat, a misshapen grey cottage blanket can become a statement cushion. Using traditional techniques such as felting, appliqué, knitting, embroidery, and machine sewing on a 50-year-old Bernina, I can continue the life story of each piece of fabric.
Not only does my work connect the past with the present, it connects the present with the future. It pleases me that my creative repurposing of discarded “stuff” is one small step in caring for our environment.

FABRIC ART – CHRISTINE BARKER
Born in Great Britain, Chris Barker has enjoyed working with fibre from an early age, whether embroidery, cross stitch, macrame, weaving, sewing, or knitting. She has also experimented with making batik fabric for sewing projects and hand dying wool for knitting.
Chris has been making fabric art since 2004, starting with quilted landscape wall hangings.
Mostly self-taught she enjoys experimenting with different fabrics, yarns and techniques to make an original art piece. Nature and landscape scenes lend themselves well to collage, but she has also done houses, gardens and figures.
Most of her work is framed fabric collages behind glass. In some pieces she uses special wooden frames without glass to accentuate the texture and beading.
She uses mostly cotton batiks but has used silks, yarns, lace and netting to great effect. Besides fabric collages, she has done numerous children’s play quilts, kits, and cards. She sells her work each year at the Fibre Arts Festival (March) in Peterborough and at the Canoe Museum.

HOOKED ON THE LAKE
As I grew up I developed my love of all things fibre through making my own clothing, knitting sweaters for myself and friends, learning to crochet – although none of those little doilies – bathroom curtains was my first project and learning to quilt. I would spend hours in quilt stores pulling bolts of fabrics off the shelves and imagining what I could make with them. Until the day I visited a wonderful quilt store in New Hampshire where I discovered a rughooking kit. I was intrigued but this was before internet was as widespread as it is today and I could not find anything to teach me how to hook – until my cousin came for a visit and showed me a project she was working on and introduced me to her teacher.
I realised after the first few loops that I pulled that I had discovered a fibre art that appealed to every creative bone in my body. I loved the almost zenlike feel of pulling loops, loved playing with colour and developing my own colours through dyeing, loved designing and loved the final product. I have been hooking for about 22 years and still get excited every time I pick up my hook and a strip of wool…

Horseless Carriage Museum
The Horseless Carriage Museum is a culmination of 45 years of Richard’s experience, making and marketing our exclusive handcrafts and displaying our antiques at heritage venues across Ontario. The Horseless Carriage is a unique, privately-owned museum specializing in brass era cars and transportation, turn-of-the-century mechanical antiquities and an 1890’s general store, located on a century farm between Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon.
It was the acquisition of two rare sock knitting machines, the World’s Star and the Banner, both made by the Creelman Bros in Georgetown in Ontario, that has brought us to participate at Peterborough Fibre and Arts Festival and Sale. Recently we have acquired a another very rare World’s Star that will make baby socks! Again, we will display and demonstrate the lost art of sock -making on these intricately simple machines and sell unique, handmade “socks of many colours” hand-cranked on century-old knitting machines. We make adult socks, baby socks, fingerless gloves, tab socks, headbands and boot cuffs ….a small sampling of what the Horseless Carriage Museum and General Store has to offer.

Pine Hollow Farm
PINE HOLLOW FARM was established as a family farm in 1982. I wanted to learn hand-spinning and produce my own fibre. The Angora goats arrived in 1987 and purebred, registered Rambouillet sheep arrived in 1988. Unfortunately there were no mills in Canada that could effectively process the fine wool.
And so I began a cross breeding program using three purebred sheep breeds, to develop a specific fibre and breed type. After qualifying as an Angora Goat judge, I further defined my breeding goals in both the Angora goat herd and the sheep flock.
After years of extensive selection, I named my sheep “Norbouillet.” Pine Hollow Farm is the exclusive producer of this breeding stock. The fibre is available in washed locks, rovings and yarn, both hand dyed and naturally coloured. My fibre is processed at Wellington Fibres near Elora Ont.
The farm also supplies wool/yarn orders to other farmers, processors or shops who wish to have a Canadian and Ontario grown and processed product.
The Norbouillet sheep produce many natural colours including cream, browns, greys and black. Blending the wool with mohair enhances the properties of both. Many rovings and yarn blends use different percentages of these two natural fibres.
Pine Hollow Farm is a member of the Upper Canada Fibre Shed and had the honour of supplying the yarn that was hand woven into a blanket to be presented to HRH Prince Charles during his 2017 Canadian visit. There are several other exciting projects using Norbouillet wool in the works.

At Rovings & Wraps we have blends for spinning and felting using luxury and exoctic fibres. Merino, alpaca, angora, tussah and cultivated silk and other fibres all are blended to make colourful and interesting batts that are fun to spin or felt. There are hand dyed rovings as well, using Merino , Blue Faced Leister, Polworth and other fine wools. Finished items from yarn spun from all our fibres include cowls, scarves, and shawls. Shepherd’s Hill Farm consists of a flock of mostly long wool sheep raised in an ethical and sustainable manner. Our goal is to produce fleeces that are clean, consistent and easy to spin. Our efforts have been recognized locally and at the Royal Winter Fair.

Laura Mayo Artist Statement
Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Laura has always been surrounded by nature and takes inspiration from it to produce her art.
With over twenty years of experience as a self taught artist, Laura has mastered the art of Sun Dyeing, which involves taking the leaves, flowers and seeds from plants and using them to create permanent images on silk scarves.
Working extensively with other fabric dyes, Laura has also created a line of Ice and Spray Dyed scarves in a fusion of colours to add to her line.
Hand made, perfectly matched scarf jewelry is also available to be purchased along with the scarves.
The Night Weaver
My name is Valerie Carpentier known as the Night Weaver. I have worked in various mediums but for the last 10 years I have been creating fabric art landscapes.
I enjoy selecting fabrics and then texturizing the composition with thread “painting” to give contrast and depth to my art work.

Wool4Ewe
Wool 4 Ewe had a small flock of ewes, in Ontario. Most of our ewes were of the Dorset breed. Our lambs were generally born in May as singles or twins. Triplets occurred, but not as often.
Our ewes spent most of their time outdoors. This way they could exercise and spend as much time as they wanted in the fresh air and sunshine. They had access to a barn, of course, and came in whenever they liked. They were sheared in the spring and their soft, warm fleeces are used to make our products.
From here we graduated to our Wool 4 Ewe Mill. We can now process various fibers from fleeces to rovings, batts or rug yarn. We also sell batts and roving and rug yarn along with all the items seen on the website. Come see how fiber is processed!
